​TEACHING ARTIST SUMMARY
 

One of Miss Protich's strongest mentors was her voice teacher of 12 years, the late Professor Emeritus Esther Andreas, who not only imparted a strong sense of discipline and desire to excel vocally, but sparked Anita's desire to be an educator.  While Anita was pursuing her career as a singer, she began teaching gifted young singers. She is comfortable teaching singers of all ages and ability. She has prepared singers for professional careers in concert, opera and musical theatre. Her students have won awards in major vocal competitions and have performed in opera houses around the world including New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and Covent Garden to name a few.  Her experience brings to her students a thorough knowledge of vocal and performance skills, the right repertoire, and a strong, positive competitive spirit.

While studying for her Masters degree in 2007, she worked as a student professor at Cal State University, Los Angeles teaching voice.   Anita has a long-term relationship with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus having taught many of their singers in preparation for college entrance requirements in vocal study.​  In conjunction with the choral department at Eagle Rock High School, she developed  a program of private and group master classes for gifted singers and prepared singers to audition for the California ACDA Honor Choir. Her love of diversity and other cultures led her to work as a vocal coach for the Los Angeles Young Angeles Korean Choir and with the Hogar Cristiano Latino/a Ensemble in Pasadena.

After earning her Masters degree, Anita became a member of the voice faculty at Glendale Community College.  Currently, she teaches applied and class voice and is Director of  GCC's Opera Workshop program.

​

Her current projects are to create day seminars, teaching a variety of subject matter to singers on the subjects of singing diction, ornamentation and trills,  performing recitatives, recognizing different vocal forms,  rehearsal and performance etiquette, etc.

In 2010 Anita earned her Master’s degree in voice performance with special honors awarded in graduate studies.  Continuing the groundwork she began while pursuing her Masters, Anita continues with a line of research into the psychological, pedagogical and physical issues faced by the emerging female voice of dramatic potential.   Anita has worked with Transgender (MTF) / (Post-SRS) voice feminization therapy clients.
